How to vacuum clean…

This is kind of an obvious one, everyone knows how to vaccuum right?

Well kind of…

A few hints and tips here to help get the best finish:

  1. Make sure there is nothing on the floor. Pick up toys, papers etc
  2. First vacuum the rugs, go lengthwise and across wise the get as much dust out as possible, then hang them outside (if possible) to air while the rest of the room gets attention
  3. Choose the appropriate attachment, on hard floors use the broad head with a brushfor the big areas and the narrrow tube like “crevice” attachement for the edges.
  4. Vacuum under sofa cushions and on the sofa at least once a month (check if it is needed each time you vacuum though, you never know what kids have dropped down there).
  5. Vacuum behind and underneath the furniture at least once a month too. Ask for help moving heavy items, dragging is guaranteed to damage marks on wooden floors!
  6. Our floors are oiled wood, so every month or so they need mopping with a white soap solution to keep the wood in good condition. This should be done after vacuuming.
  7. Leave to dry and then replace the rugs. Simple!
